Howard J. Rubenstein

Howard founded Rubenstein in 1954 and today serves as its chairman, working alongside his son Steven Rubenstein, who is the firm's president.

Howard is an iconic figure in the public relations industry and a daily presence at the firm that bears his name. Regularly participating in meetings of the firm's executive committee to review accounts and in strategy sessions with senior management, he continues to provide daily strategic guidance and advice based on his decades of experience building one of the world largest and most influential independent public agencies.

He also remains engaged with a number of the firm's most prominent and long-term clients, many of whom have relied upon his counsel for decades. And he continues to work across the firm to imbue management and staff with the long-held principles and approaches that are foundation of the business he established more than 60 years ago.

Howard has served as a member of numerous civic and philanthropic organizations, and currently sits on the Executive Committees of the Real Estate Board of New York, NYC & Co., and the Association for a Better New York, which he helped to found. He is a trustee of the Police Athletic League, the Inner City Scholarship Fund of the Archdiocese of New York, and the Foundation for the National Archives, as well as a member of the City University of New York Business Leadership Council. He is vice-chairman of the Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust and has served on the Mayor's Committee on Business & Economic Development for Mayors Beame, Dinkins and Giuliani. He also has served as a consultant to the United States Foreign Claims Settlement Commission and is a former assistant counsel to the House Judiciary Committee. In 2013, he was inducted into the PR News' PR People Hall of Fame.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, he finished first in his class in the night school division at St. John's University School of Law, which has also awarded him an honorary doctor of law degree. He is listed in Who's Who in America.
